Fixed : Dell XPS 13 (2 in 1) won’t shutdown..

After installing the latest Windows 10 Fall Creators Update I noticed that my Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 immediatly restarted after a shutdown. After some troubleshooting I noticed many other people with the same problem (also with other Dell models). The steps I found on the internet (BIOS upgrade, removing USB devices etc) didn’t work for me. But I found the solution :

shutdown1

Go to Energiebeheer (Power management, sorry for the Dutch language :-))

shutdown2

Go to “gedrag van de aan/uit knoppen bepalen” (behaviour of on/off button).

shutdown3

Select the first option (with the UAC logo next to in) en disable Fast boot. (Snel opstarten)

Voila! Problem solved.

  1. Other option is to hold shift during shutdown command from start menu. (this works for me)
or press shutdown button until the small white LED is off (about 4 sec).
